Recover Permanently Deleted Messages Using Outlook

  1. Select your Deleted Items folder.
  2. Click on Tools.
  3. Select Recover Deleted Items.
  4. Select the items you would like to recover and click on the Recover Selected Items button (found on the upper left-hand side of the window that pops up; it is the middle with an arrow pointing into an envelope).
  5. The items should appear in your Deleted Items folder.

If you wish to recover permanently deleted items from folders other than Deleted Items, you need to download a registry file to do so. Instructions for Internet Explorer | Netscape

Internet Explorer Users:

  1. Click on: dumpster.reg.
  2. A window will open and ask, "Do you want to open the file or save it to your computer?" Click on Save.
  3. The Save As dailog window will open.
    In the Save in: field, select Desktop.
    Click on the Save button.
  4. The File Download dialog box will open and show the download to your machine.
  5. Go to your Desktop and double-click on dumpster.reg.
  6. A Registry Editor dialogue box will open and ask, "Are you sure you want to add file location\dumpster.reg to the registry? Click Yes.
  7. The Registry Editor dialogue box will say, "Information in file location\dumpster.reg has been succcessfully entered into the regisry." Click on OK.

Netscape Users:

  1. Right click on: dumpster.reg.
  2. Select Save Link As.
  3. The Save File dialog window will open.
    In the Save in: field, select Desktop.
    Click on the Save button.
  4. Go to your Desktop and double-click on dumpster.reg.
  5. A Registry Editor dialogue box will open and ask, "Are you sure you want to add file location\dumpster.reg to the registry? Click Yes.
  6. The Registry Editor dialogue box will say, "Information in file location\dumpster.reg has been succcessfully entered into the regisry." Click on OK.
